Katsushika Hokusai- Understanding Modern Art
Katsushika Hokusai is perhaps the best known Japanese artist in western art history, and as such his work played an important role in the development of what we now call modern art. European artists such as Van Gogh, Degas and Manet were all influenced by his work with its bright colours, flowing shapes and love of nature. This next part in our Understanding Modern Art series looks at the role this non western artist played in the development of western art.
