The Best Solution for Livestream Remote Guests with Zoom/Skype and works with ATEM

For the next in my series of very poorly shot, but very informative videos on live-streaming solutions, I've sort of fallen into a unique trick to bringing remote guests into the livestreams I'm producing.

Long story short, we're doing a desk setup with two shots. The goal is to always have a remote guest on for an interview segment that both hosts can participate in.

The challenge: How to bring the guest into the feed, while also being able to control their video and audio, and getting them to be able to hear and see the hosts, while getting the hosts to be able to hear and see them.

Computer attached to ATEM Video 2 via HDMI
Computer hosts zoom conference.
Attach USB-C out from ATEM to Computer
Connect airpods to computer
Open Apple Audio Midi Setup
Create new multioutput device
Add HDMI and Airpods to it
Inside zoom activate "use dual monitors"
Connect with guest
Select "pin guest to first monitor"
For Video, select "bmd"
For Microphone select BMD
For Speaker select "multioutput device"
Move mouse cursor off of screen (watch as the zoom overlay vanishes)
Connect HDMI Out from Atem to large TV and select Program output (hosts can now see the program, which will include the guest when on)
Volia. Now your video input 2 on the ATEM acts as a full screen remote guest. Your live hosts will hear the guest through the airpods and the guest will hear the speakers through whatever microphone setup you're using on set. Using the Atem Mini Extreme ISO I also build a split screen view using the super source that you can see demoed in the video. I frankly can't believe how easy this works (after figuring out all of this) and to me, much simpler than setting up an OBS screen capture.
