It took 38 days to navigate the treacherous strait, and when the ocean was sighted at the other end Magellan wept with joy.

By 1969, men had reached the moon. From outer space, men could look back on earth and see it as an object in the sky. They could see that it was round. So could everyone else on earth since pictures were taken from outer space. The earth is round and the old greek scholars who reasoned it out nearly twenty-five hundred years ago by studying stars, and ships and eclipses were absolutely right.
