Words are Meant to be Spoken | Arisha Akhir | TEDxUTM
Living in this world where it is so loud with noises, do you find writing therapeutic and cathartic as well? The
published spoken word poet, Arisha Akhir, will bring you to catch a glimpse of the writer's world. Arisha Akhir is a published spoken word poet, children’s book author, and storyteller with extensive experience in stage performance.
She has released four volumes of poetry entitled Uncertainty (2014), Still (2015), Rahsia (2017), and Speak (2020).
Apart from publishing written works, Arisha has shared her poetry everywhere from local spaces to international stages. She has exhibited her words in the prettiest galleries in the country and brought her poetry to the streets for a special performance in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Her children’s book, The Girl Who Loves to Dance (2018) aims to celebrate local traditional art with a focus on the importance of preserving culture and heritage. The book was selected by the National Book Council as one of the “50 Best Malaysian Titles for International Rights for 2018/19” and the issue was displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2018. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
