Have you powered up your FrSky Taranis without an antenna mounted, or had broken solder joints on the receiver module? I have. This action damages the receiver module resulting in major TX/RX connection and RSSI issues. Unfortunately, they do not sell a replacement receiver module, you'll end up having to replace the entire backboard, like I did. I decided to document this, as well as the process to modify your stock 2dbi 2.4GHz antenna with the SMA/RP-SMA cable mod, that allow you to put any antenna you want on there. Popular options are the 5dbi 2.4GHz antenna, or the 2.4GHz folded dipole by VAS (Video Aerial Systems) for extended range.

The antenna mod options are SMA and RP-SMA, be sure as you're planning your project, that your components are all compatible before you buy.
