In part one I have a look at what is inside the box of this new VoIP phone bundle. The Yealink W56H has been on the market for a while, so it is nice to see they upgraded the base station for this cordless DECT phone.

Part two shows you how I like to configure my router. This step is optional, you can also look up the units IP address directly on the phone itself, or assign a static IP address manually. However, I like to leave DHCP switched on, so I simply show you how to configure a rule so that the router hands out the same IP address every time the phone requests on.

In part three I walk you through some basic settings that are used when configuring the phone. For example, I show you how to change the NTP time server to a local one.

Part four is interesting for beginners who still are looking for a VoIP provider, or who are setting up an IP phone for the first time.

Finally, in part five I give you a short summary of my impression so far. It's a nice little phone and should work even better if you are using a corporate solution such as 3CX and auto-provisioning.
