Professor DiPietro's research interests center around the role of physical activity and successful aging. She has been awarded several grants from the National Institute on Aging and her current work strives to bridge the gaps between population-based public health and the clinical and physiological domains of exercise science. Professor DiPietro served on the faculty at the John B. Pierce Laboratory and the Yale University School of Medicine for 15 years prior to arriving at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services in 2008. Currently, she is the chair of the Department of Exercise Science, which is one of very few such departments in the world that is housed and completely integrated within a school of public health. Dr. DiPietro also has recently been name the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, which has a large international readership.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
