Les voyages dans le temps sont-ils possibles ? | Stephane Durand | TEDxYouth@Montreal
Can man travel through time? Professeur Durand demystifies this idea.
Stéphane Durand completed his doctural and post-doctural studies in theoretical physics in Montreal and Paris. He is currently a researcher at the Mathematics Research Center at the University of Montreal and is professor of physics at the cégép Édouard-Monpetit college in Montreal. He has also taught Quantum Mechanics and Relativity for the Department of Physics at the University of Montreal and the École Polytechnique.
Alongside his research and teaching, he uses mediums of writing, radio and video to make scientific terminology and concepts more widely understood and accessible. He even published a book on the theory of relativity written in common speak (La relativité animée, Belin, Paris, 2003) and for the third year, he hosts a weekly radio show on Années-lumière on Radio-Canada: Les carnets insolites du prof Durand. (translated to: The unusual notebooks of professor Durand).
Professor Durand is also the recipient of various awards including the Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the Department of Physics at the Univeristy of Montreal (2004), the Prix du Ministre for his book La relativité annimée (2004), as well as first prize in the International Poster Competition of the European Mathematics Society during the International Year of Mathematics (2000).
