Overwhelmed by stress? Think like a SCUBA diver. | Kate Brown | TEDxWilsonPark

Drawing from experience in the risk-filled activity of SCUBA diving, Kate Brown poses the question: “How would you live if your every move was a matter of life and death?," to demonstrate that the purpose of life is not just survival, but embracing measured risks for the sake of truly living. Kate Brown needs a vacation! She won’t be found crowding the beaches, though. She prefers trekking the sea. As an Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver, Kate has no time to stop and smell the roses; there are two worlds captivating her curiosity, and she intends to get busy discovering both. Above ground, Kate serves as Vice President for Investor Relations of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. Her passion is building strong and thriving communities, and thus has spent her young career in community planning and travel marketing. She is a Communications graduate of the University of North Alabama and has mastered the art of saying, “Roar Lions,” underwater. Below sea level, Kate became one of the youngest certified Open Water Divers at the age of 12. Having faced near death and the world’s most stunning sights, she has learned one thing: A person’s achievement potential rests entirely in his or her pursuit to quench every drop of life given. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
