Improve Your Head Movement For Boxing | 3 Exercises
What's up guys! In todays video I go over 3 exercises to help improve your head movement for boxing. These exercises are great because you DO NOT need a partner or gym. Head movement begins from the ground. If you notice boxers with incredible head movement you'll notice that they all move their feet or lower body simultaneously. Also, most of the time head movement isn't based off reaction but rather muscle memory. Fighters DRILL DRILL DRILL until it becomes a habit for them to move their head after throwing a combination. Take the "effort" away from the fight and just let your body do what it has been trained to do which is MOVING YOUR HEAD. In this video, I show clips of Mike Tyson, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and Floyd Mayweather.
In this video I demonstrated 3 exercises:
1) Numbers-- this exercise is simply shadowboxing focusing on head movement. The difference being your head movement mimics a number. Do slip or bob and weave the same way all the time. Being unpredictable with your head movement will make you a much harder target to hit.
2) Bob & Weave Line-- this exercise is by far the most popular. If you walk into any boxing gym you will see a rope tied between 2 bases. This exercise is simple. Go under the rope moving forward and backwards.
3) Slip Bag-- this exercise combines all head movement. I use a speed bag filled with beans and tie a rope at the top of the speed bag. The other end of the rope is attached to something high. To begin just push the bag and as it comes back to you slip or go under. Feel free to throw punches with it.
