Indigenous People's Day: Picuris Pueblo Dance
As part of the twenty-person delegation from the Indigenous nation of Picuris Pueblo, the group performed a traditional dance for the Barnard College and Columbia University community. Barnard hosted the campus visit as part of its close relationship and work with the Picuris Pueblo. Associate Professor Sev Fowles, Chair, American Studies Department, along with Barnard students has traveled to and conducted research with the Indigenous nation for the past four years. The trip is co-sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History, where the group will visit to view some of their ancestral objects.
