Electrification in Sweden & Australia
The Australian National University is honoured to host a special event as we welcome Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of Sweden and Mr Johan Forssell, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade to our campus.
Australia and Sweden share commitments to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and stand by the letter and spirit of the Paris Agreement. This special panel event will provide an opportunity for Australian and Swedish experts to share views on best practices to fully leverage electrification on the path to net-zero.
The event will include opening remarks by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and ANU Vice-Chancellor and Nobel Laureate Professor Brian Schmidt AO, followed by an expert panel discussion on Electrification in Sweden and Australia featuring:
Johan Forssell, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Sweden
Martin Merrick, President, Volvo Group Australia
Associate Professor Marnie Shaw, Research Leader, ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program
An Australian government representative (TBC)
Moderated by Professor Mark Howden – Director, ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions and Vice-Chair, Working Group II, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
Following the panel discussion, guests will be invited to view a demonstration of a heavy electric truck.
