The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania at 300: History, Innovation and Decision-Making
The Supreme Court is the oldest appellate court in the Western Hemisphere. This panel discussion will review the Court’s history and foundational contributions to the American legal system, the modern Supreme Court’s administrative role under Article V, Section 10 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, and the Court’s exercise of the supreme judicial role under Section 2 of Article V, including comments on judicial decision-making, exposition of the state constitution, and the relationships between state and federal courts.
