Giving Wings to Dreams | Captain Zoya Aggarwal | TEDxMIETJammu

Captain Zoya, who is the first woman pilot in the world to command a Boeing 777 jet, talked
overcoming resistance at home to pursue her dreams. She inspired the audience by sharing her stories on leading the all women flight on the longest route from San Francisco to Bengaluru, a 17 hour non-stop flight or flying sorties worldwide during the pandemic to bring
back stranded Indians. Zoya Agarwal is an Air India pilot in India. She was the youngest woman pilot in India to fly a Boeing-777 in the year 2013. On 9th January 2021, she flew one of the world's longest air routes between San Francisco and Bengaluru with an all-female flight crew.

In 2015, Zoya was applauded for her role in saving a passenger's life. A New York-bound Air India Boeing turned back mid-air and landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after a male passenger complained of breathing problems. Though the plane with 327 passengers was airborne for 150 minutes, flight commander Zoya decided to turn back to Delhi after the passenger complained of breathlessness and was in need of urgent medical attention. The ailing passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the plane landed.
Zoya also lead the Vande Bharat Mission to bring back around 14,800 stranded Indians from 12 countries on 64 Air India flights. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
