In this video I briefly cover a simple mod you can do to cheap HDMI-to-VGA adapters in order to give them a stable source of power which will protect the device you're using them to convert from.

Apologies for the low quality of the closeups. They looked fine on the camera. Only after importing the footage did I realise it looked like I filmed it on a potato clock.
