In my couples work, I see good people really throwing their stuff
on each other and having no awareness to it.
I wanted to create a video to get people thinking about how your
childhood conditioning affects your relationship.
I hope the tools laid out in this video are helpful!
Some notes:
*The three examples were hypothetical and the
reactions were hypothetical. You don't have to
have these exact reactions.
*"Do the opposite", in the 3rd tool- means the if you overwhelm - try to
listen to the partner and not response aggressively. If you shut down,
try to stay on task and be more expressive. This is hard to do I know but try to not do your usual.
*The brownies - the repairing thing doesn't have to be literal.
Poor repairing can be anything but the essence of it is to reconnect by forgetting the issues or dismissing what just happened.
*In order to couples work to work or discussions to go anywhere, BOTH people need to be on board with trying. If your partner just says you are they problem and they refuse to do any work/discuss. You might have to take a deeper look at your relationship.

Good luck and I hope this helps! Patrick
