Under Layers - Big Textures - Art with concrete, plaster and fabric.

I start this video with five panels. Previously, I painted with acrylic paint on two of the panels. But after I was done with the paintings and sat with them for a few days, I decided I needed to come up with a plan to cover them up so that I could add encaustic to them.
These panels are manufactured by Ampersand, (no affiliation) and have layers of acrylic gesso on the surface. Generally, straight acrylic paints are not a great underpainting for Encaustic. The two mediums generally repel each other.
So, after a little thought, I devised a plan to cover the surfaces with plaster, concrete and fabrics to create a more welcoming encaustic environment. Join me while I prepare these panels to have big textures.
