PPF Hood Wrap Tutorial - POV Step by Step bulk install on an NSX!!

Not all hoods are created equal. I’ll take you on a step by step guide on how to wrap an NSX-R hood with XPEL Ultimate Paint Protection Film.

We will be using a bulk installation method as there are no templates for this type of hood available. Installing PPF by bulk will always provide a custom tailored and fitted final outcome with maximum protection. All corners are wrapped and all edges are tucked.

Coles Notes on Installation:

- Make sure the hood is properly detailed and the work area is clean and as dust free as possible
- Have the slip solution and tack solution ready for installation
- When peeling the Paint Protection Film from the backing, try not to make sudden movements, as dust or lint from clothes can be attracted to the sticky side of the film
- Make sure there is enough slip solution under the film and position the film to the desired position
- Prior to making the initial squeegee pass, see how the film is laying down. You do not want the film to be overly stretched. You want the film to lay down as naturally as it can, this will avoid any unwanted lifts or tenting in the future. Remember, film being too stretched out will become thinner and provide less protection in those areas. Glue distortion and stretch marks are more visible as well.
- Work the solution out with overlapping passes.
- When trimming the film, make sure your knife blade is as sharp as possible. You can do a test cut on an overhanging piece of PPF. Dull knifes will make jagged cuts, or even worse, have the possibility to damage the paint as you’ll need more pressure to cut the PPF.
