NOTE: After removing all screws from the bottom lid, don't just yank off the lid because there are two black plastic pieces toward the middle of the lid that fit into slots on the motherboard.  You can see those 2 black pieces from about 13min.11sec. If your battery is swollen like mine was, it's likely these 2 black pieces are already popped out so it'll be easy to remove the bottom lid just like you see in my video; but if the 2 black pieces are still in place, you need to slowly and gently pry the lid up with your fingers to pop the black pieces out of their sockets.  Don't use so much force the lid bends!  Lift up and down slowly, gently with a rocking motion until those 2 pieces pop out of place and then the lid easily lifts off.

🛠 THERMAL PASTE & TOOLS:
• Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (Amazon US): https://amzn.to/36NMQwu
• Screwdriver Set (Amazon US): https://amzn.to/3jSP1H5
• Yamachi Tool Set (Amazon Japan): https://amzn.to/2zm0jgS
• 99% ISO Alcohol: https://amzn.to/39IAnPy
or
• 99.9% ISO Alcohol: https://amzn.to/2MkjS3h
or
• 99% ISO Alcohol: https://amzn.to/2YsK8v3
💁‍♂️I gave you 3 alcohol choices (Amazon US) above because it's often out of stock. 70% will work, 91% is better, but 99% is best for electronics cleaning (fast drying & no residue).

• Rocket Blower (Amazon US): https://amzn.to/31854vM
(The Q-tips, brush & paper towels I'm sure you already have.)

💵 NOTE: Your price on Amazon (US only) is the same even if you don't click the "amzn.to" Affiliate links above, but if you do kindly click and purchase within 24 hours, Amazon may pay me a small commission on all qualifying items in your Cart (even items not linked above).

👉 OFFICIAL THERMAL GRIZZLY ADVICE. I exchanged several emails with Thermal Grizzly after the making of my video. They kindly watched my video and saw my SPREAD and subsequent "X" application methods. They agreed with me that the super-thin, film-like result of my SPREAD application was NOT adequate (thin as a fingerprint). They said because the viscosity of Kryonaut requires more force/difficulty to properly apply via the SPREAD method, they recommend instead using Hydronaut for notebook applications (i.e., for thermal paste application to non-lidded CPU and GPU dies). Of course, the Thermal Conductivity specification of Kryonaut is slightly better than Hydronaut, so using the X-application method as shown in my video is quite fine and acceptable, and my thermals and performance boost bear that out. However, Thermal Grizzly added that depending upon the FORCE used to press down on the heatsink, Kryonaut may slowly seep out over time. They said Hydronaut would not seep out and therefore there are fewer concerns about replacing Hydronaut over as compared to Kryonaut. So if you decide to use Hydronaut in your repate while following the SPREAD method of my video, please make time to offer me feedback in the Comments section about how well the SPREAD method worked for you, or whether you needed to resort to the X-method like I did. Remember, the result of the SPREAD method should NOT be a film as thin as a fingerprint but a nice coating instead. I hope this info helps!

❓Why KRYONAUT instead of Brand-X?
Believe me, I spent HOURS watching every YouTube video on the subject and reading dozens of articles. All of that information convinced me KRYONAUT beats MX-2 (a widely used paste) in terms of thermal performance, and it beats most other pastes by a wide margin. Only liquid metal is better, but liquid metal can be dangerous in that it can cause electrical shorts and you must reapply it every 3 years, plus you cannot use liquid metal with aluminum heatsinks (not a problem for the MBP which is Copper, but still limiting).
