Simple Lentil Soup

Super easy recipe, tastes great! Ingredients always on hand.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups red lentils
2 1/2 litres stock (10 cups)
1 onion, finely diced
1 tomato, finely diced
3-4 cloves garlic, crushed
3-4 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
cayenne pepper (optional)
salt to taste (the stock I use is salty, so I find that I don't need to add any extra)
