Searching for My Period, Stomata, and Myself | Emma Chen | TEDxPhillipsExeterAcademy

One day, Emma Chen realized that her period, which had visited her regularly for years, had disappeared. As she visited doctors and researched the science of amenorrhea (missing menses), she learned that it was her body's signal to her that it was anxious—and that something was wrong. In her talk, she shares her journey of searching for her period and finding connection—with herself, her loved ones, and the world of which she is part—and shows how we all can preserve what matters most. Emma Chen is a junior at Phillips Exeter Academy (Class of '22). Hailing from Shanghai, China, she is fascinated by neuroscience and enjoys reading and running in her spare time. In her talk, she shares her story of recovery from amenorrhea, the importance of self-care, and how we can all learn to preserve what matters most. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
