The Book of Jubilees. Part 1. Chapters 1 to 13. This recording is in Public Domain. Edited by me. The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called Lesser Genesis (Leptogenesis), is an ancient Jewish religious work of 50 chapters, considered canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church as well as Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jews), where it is known as the Book of Division. Jubilees is considered one of the pseudepigrapha by Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant Churches. It is also not considered canonical within Judaism outside of Beta Israel. The Book of Jubilees claims to present "the history of the division of the days of the Law, of the events of the years, the year-weeks, and the jubilees of the world" as revealed to Moses (in addition to the Torah or "Instruction") by angels while he was on Mount Sinai for forty days and forty nights. The chronology given in Jubilees is based on multiples of seven; the jubilees are periods of 49 years (seven "year-weeks"), into which all of time has been divided.

CONTENTS OF THIS VIDEO:

CHAPTER 1 - Moses receives the tables of the law and instruction on past and future history which he is to inscribe in a book. Apostasy of Israel. Captivity of Israel and Judah. Return of Judah and rebuilding of the temple. Moses' prayer for Israel. God's promise to redeem and dwell with them. Moses bidden to write down the future history of the world (the Book of Jubilees?). And an angel to write down the law. This angel takes the heavenly chronological tablets to dictate therefrom to Moses.

CHAPTER 2 - The history of the twenty-two distinct acts of creation on the six days. Institution of the Sabbath: its observance by the highest angels, with whom Israel is afterwards to be associated.

CHAPTER 3 - Adam names all creatures. Creaton of Eve and enactment of Levitical laws of purification. Adam and Eve in Paradise: their sin and expulsion. Law of covering one's shame enacted. Adam and Eve live in Êldâ.

CHAPTER 4 - Cain and Abel and other children of Adam. Enos, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared. Enoch and his history. Four sacred places. Methuselah, Lamech, Noah. Death of Adam and Cain. Shem, Ham, and Japhet.

CHAPTER 5 - The Angels of God marry the daughters of men. Corruption of all creation. Punishment of the fallen angels and their children. Final judgment announced. Day of Atonement. The deluge foretold, Noah builds the ark, the deluge.

CHAPTER 6 - Sacrifice of Noah. God's convenant with Noah, eating of blood forbidden. Moses bidden to renew this law against the eating of blood. Bow (Rainbow) set in the clouds for a sign. Feast of weeks instituted, history of its observances. Feast of the new moons. Division of the year into 364 days.

CHAPTER 7 - Noah plants a vineyard and offers a sacrifice. Becomes drunk and exposes his person. The cursing of Canaan and blessing of Shem and Japeth. Noah's sons and grandsons and their cities. Noah teaches his sons regarding the causes of the deluge and admonishes them to avoid the eating of blood and murder, to keep the law regarding fruit trees and let the land lie fallow every seventh year, as Enoch had directed.

CHAPTER 8 - Kâinâm (Cainan) discovers an inscription relating to the sun and stars. His sons. Noah's sons and Noah divide the earth. Shem's inheritance, Ham's, Japheth's.

CHAPTER 9 - Subdivision of the three portions amongst the grandchildren of Noah. Amongst Ham's children, Shem's, Japheth's. Oath taken by Noah's sons.

CHAPTER 10 - Evil spirits leads astray the sons of Noah. Noah's prayer. Mastêmâ allowed to retain one-tenth of his subject spirits. Noah taught the use of herbs by the angels for resisting the demons. Noah dies. Building of Babel and the confusion of tongues. Canaan seizes on Palestine. Madai receives Media.

CHAPTER 11 - Reu and Serug. Rise of war and bloodshed and eating of blood and idolatry. Nachor and Terah. Abram's knowledge of God and wonderful deeds.

CHAPTER 12 - Abram seeks to run Terah from idolatry. Marries Sarai. Haran and Nachor. Abram burns the idols: death of Haran. Terah and his family go to Haran. Abram observes the stars and prays. Abram is bidden to go to Canaan and blessed. Power of speaking Hebrew given to him. Abram leaves Haran for Canaan.

CHAPTER 13 - Abram journeys from Haran to Shechem in Canaan, thence to Hebron and thence to Egypt. Returns to Canaan where Lot separates from him, and receives the promise of Canaan and journeys to Hebron. Chedorlaomer's attack on Sodom and Gomorrah: Lot taken captive. Law of tithes enacted.
