How to repair a GM keyless entry remote - car fob quick fix DIY - transmitter - universal remote

Here is a quick fix on how to get your GM car remote to work again. There are kits you can buy online, but if you want to do it yourself and not wait, check this out. The GM dealer will tell you that you need another remote (120.00) and that it needs to be programed (75.00).

This fix may or may not work for everyone and of course there are other ways of doing this. And for the people who keep commenting about using free aluminum foil, yes you can use aluminum foil too, I've also done the foil thing. With a small hole puncher (smaller than a notebook paper punch) you can punch out some aluminum foil dots and glue them to the back of the buttons. Not all types of glue adhere well with rubber and foil, so in time the foil can become loose and crinkle inside. This in turn can activate the remote without pushing the button. Depending on the glue and how the foil dots are applied, the remote can last a long time or not so long.
