Queensland government ‘pretending they care’ about youth crime

Sky News host Paul Murray has slammed the Queensland government for “pretending they care” about youth crime in the state after the Premier announced a new support package.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a $200 million reform package designed to support victims of crime and their families.

$185 million of the funds will go toward increased financial assistance for victims.

“Am I suggesting the entire Queensland state budget should be spent on the victims of crime? Of course not,” Mr Murray said.

“But when this is a mob that are pretending they care about crime, they do nothing to stop it, they do nothing to try to box the judiciary in with mandatory minimums for repeat offenders.”
