This is the latest installment of Millennial Money, which profiles people across the U.S. and details how they earn and spend their money.

For Zhao, the $80k he makes each year is enough to live comfortably in San Diego. He skipped college and instead started working at 18. After a few years working in sales at a start-up in the Bay Area he returned to San Diego. His day job makes him around $67k in base salary, bonuses, and commissions.

Zhao is passionate about "gloving," which he defines as "an underground art form that centers around the rave culture." In 2016 he started a side hustle selling gloving products on his own e-commerce site, Throwlights. In 2018 that earned him around $13k.
