Home Energy Monitor Project: Current
Warning/Disclaimer: This is a potentially very dangerous project. It involves working with AC house power (120/240V) that if not treated with the proper care can cause bodily injury and/or destruction of property. IKW is in no way responsible for any injuries or destruction of property resulting from others duplicating things seen in this video series. Please be responsible people!!!

In the first part of this project we took a look at how to measure the voltage of the power running through a house. In this video we're going to take a look at how to hook up and calibrate a clamp-on current transformer to an Arduino. By using the voltage sensing from the last video and the newly wired up current sensing we can get the actual power usage of a circuit in Watts. This will be essential to monitoring the overall energy usage in a house.
