I Tried My DNA Diet and Fitness Plan For 30 Days
I’ve tried a wide variety of diets, workout plans, supplements but was never sure which or if any were truly effective for me. To stop throwing against the wall and see what sticks, I took a DNA test to find out what’s the holy grail to achieving my fitness goal that is unique to my gene.
A few highlights I learned 1) My ideal macronutrient distribution is 40% carbs, 40% fat and 20% protein, so I don’t need to avoid carbs and Keto is not suitable for me! 2) I’m a hybrid of power and endurance responder so I need to include more cardio and Tim Feris’ 4-hour body plan with low reps and more weights is not effective for me 3) I’m lactose intolerant!
Despite taking the test last year, I wasn’t disciplined in adapting my lifestyle. But since we all have to stay home and I need to find an excuse not to turn into Snorlax, I decided to revisit my DNA plan. For 30 days, I followed strictly the food type, portion, recipe as well as training recommendations. It was driving me crazy in the beginning as my OCD side tried to stick to the recipe to the paramount precision while cooking and grocery-shopping in a 7-day bulk. But slowly, I started to enjoy the feeling of being healthy, knowing whatever I put in my body is nourishing at the cellular level. I feel lighter, more confident in my fitness, and saw visible improvement in my physique. It's gratifying to know that at these particularly challenging times I'm able to physically thrive!
