Grinding a Tapered Machinery Gib using the Surface Grinder - Monarch Lathe Restoration:- Part 21
As I work to machine a new tapered gib for my Monarch Lathe, after roughing out the basic shape on the milling machine, we next want to take it to the surface grinder to put a precision grind on it to match my lathe. I will be using my Landis Surface Grinder to grind both the parallel surfaces as well as using a Sine Plate to grind a precision angle. I also have a discussion on how to calculate the angle on my existing gib and then calculate the gauge block stack needed to get the correct angle on the sine plate.
