Antonov AN-26B-100 - Flying can't be better in 4K

Kostroma Avia operates scheduled flights from Kostroma to Saint Petersburg. Depending on the schedule, the airline also offers flights to Moscow and other, very regional destinations. While the main type of the airline is the AN-26, it also operates the MI-2 Helicopter as well as AN-2 "airliners".

The AN-26 is basically the cargo modification of the AN-24, with a cargo ramp in the tail of the plane. Even though the AN-24 is the actual passenger plane, some AN-26 got modified to carry passengers. This was on the one hand due to the lack of appropriate planes, on the other hand due to the rugged airframe, that could be used as a "combi".

The AN-24/26 are awesome aircraft and even with most being well in their 40ies, the plane is still a workhorse for many Russian airlines. The plane is cheap to operate and offers good economics, even for a Soviet type.

The passenger version of the AN-26 is in most cases designated as modification -100. it offers one row less than the AN-24, but has all the cargo equipment installed, even the crane for loading cargo is visible within the cabin. Modified passenger AN-26 are a rare thing and very hard to catch, since these can be easily switched with an AN-24, besides the fact that there never was many AN-26(B)-100s.

Kostroma Avia is not only known for its friendly crews, but also for most likely the fanciest soviet airliners of our time. All AN-26 feature a modernized cabin that seems more like a business jet and less like a Soviet era airliner. Since the Antonov is the sole type used for the airline`s mainline ops, the chance is 100% of catching an AN-26 in passenger config.
