Attacked By Off Leash Dog when Bikejoring

Early Morning Bikejor Run at Chickakoo Lake with my eurohound Blu. Our run was cut short when Blu was attacked by an unleashed dog.

Note: Chickakoo Lake Trails is NOT an unleashed area - I only run my dogs on trails that require dogs to be leashed.

At 2.47 in the video you can see the dog across the pond start to engage us

The Dog spray I used is PetSafe SprayShield Animal Deterrent - Citronella Dog Repellent Spray.... it was cold and didn't spray well

Blu required a vet visit - he has a handful of staples to close the laceration on his belly/rib area.... he is expected to make a full recovery and I was lucky to escape unhurt after tackling the dog.

The owner of the dog made a mistake this morning, in the past we have never had an issue with this dog (he has always been on leash) as we are both frequent users of this trail system. Owner has agreed to pay Blu's vet bill and I expect we will be crossing paths again soon.... I don't hate the dog or the owner, mistakes happen... we learn...we do better.
