Hello Displorers, Welcome back to another exciting video and thanks for watching. In this video, we are be presenting the Top 10 Busiest Airports in Africa in 2019. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, international tourist arrivals surpassed 1.3 billion in 2018, and that number increases each year. Some cities prepare for takeoff by investing big in better transportation connections or new technology for slow security. Airports today shift from bland transportation terminals into destinations people actually might want to spend more time in. While Africa might not have the busiest airports in the world there are quite for extremely busy airpots in Africa receiving Millions of passengers each year. Now you might be asking, How are Airport Passengers calculated, Well, Airport terminal passenger numbers are calculated by summing the totals of departing passengers, arriving passengers, transferring passengers and direct transit passengers. A passenger who transfers from one flight to another is counted twice by the airport in which they make their transfer. A direct transit passenger is someone whose stops temporarily at an airport and then departs again on a plane with the same flight number. These passengers are counted once.

10. Tunis Carthage Airport, Number of Annual users – 6.2 Million
Tunis Carthage Airport is the main International Airport of Tunis, the capital City of Tunisia. It serves as the home base for Tunisair, Tunisair Express, Nouvelair Tunisia, and Tunisavia. The airport is named for the historic city of Carthage, located just east of the airport. The history of the airport dates back to 1920 when the first seaplane base in Tunisia was built on the Lake of Tunis for the seaplanes of Compagnie Aéronavale. The Tunis Airfield opened in 1938, serving around 5,800 passengers annually on the Paris-Tunis route. Construction on the Tunis-Carthage Airport, which was fully funded by France, began in 1944, and in 1948 the airport become the main hub for Tunisair. The airline started operations with Douglas DC-3s flying from Tunis-Carthage Airport to Marseille, Ajaccio, Bastia, Algiers, Rome, Sfax, Djerba, and Tripoli. The passenger traffic grew steadily from 1951 when 56,400 passengers were carried, 33,400 of them by Air France. In 2018, The Airport an received an estimated 6.2 Million passengers making it the 10th Busiest airports in Africa with about 300 flights a day.
9. Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Number of Annual users – 6.5 Million
Murtala Muhammed International Airport is an international airport located in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, and is the major airport serving the entire state. The airport was initially built during World War II and is named after Murtala Muhammed, the fourth military ruler of Nigeria. Originally known as Lagos International Airport, it was renamed in the mid 1970s, during construction of the new international terminal, after a former Nigerian military head of state Murtala Muhammed. The international terminal was modelled after Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The new terminal opened officially on 15 March 1979. It is the main base for Nigeria's largest airline, Arik Air.
Murtala Muhammed International Airport consists of an international and a domestic terminal, located about one kilometre from each other. Both terminals share the same runways. This domestic terminal used to be the old Ikeja Airport. International operations moved to the new international airport when it was ready while domestic operations moved to the Ikeja Airport, which became the domestic airport. The domestic operations were relocated to the old Lagos domestic terminal in 2000 after a fire. A new domestic privately funded terminal known as MMA2 has been constructed and was commissioned on 7 April 2007. The Airport is of the main entry points into Nigeria currently ranks as the 9th Busiest Airport in Africa with about 6.5 Million passengers annually.

Hurghada International Airport is the international airport of Hurghada in Egypt. It is located inland, 5 km (3.1 mi) southwest of El Dahar, the downtown of Hurghada.
