Who Killed Rasputin | BBC
Did a British agent murder Rasputin? Within days of Rasputin's death, rumors were swirling that Britain, terrified by the prospect of Russia unilaterally quitting the First World War, was behind the brutal killing. The program-makers re-opened the investigation into the death of Rasputin and found conclusive evidence to suggest that he was murdered in a plot hatched by rogue members of the British Secret Service with a fatal shot fired at close range by Secret Agent Oswald Rayner.
The documentary is based on extraordinary new evidence uncovered by intelligence historian, and program consultant, Andrew Cook. In addition, BBC Timewatch brought in Richard Cullen, former Metropolitan Police Commander, and a trainer of police cadets in forensic detective work in Russia, to reopen the case.
This video was produced by BBC and was released in 2004. It is shared here on this channel in the framework of the publication of the book “The Romanov Royal Martyrs: What Silence Could Not Conceal”.
“The Romanov Royal Martyrs” is an impressive 512-page book, featuring nearly 200 black & white photographs, and a 56-page photo insert of more than 80 high-quality images, colourized by the acclaimed Russian artist Olga Shirnina (Klimbim), and appearing here in print for the first time.
