Climate Change: Am I Responsible!! | Ar. Sathyaprakash Varanashi | TEDxGlobalAcademy

“Climate Change!! Living Without Climate Change – If I am the Cause, I am the Solution”, Prof. Sathya Prakash Varanashi , in his talk, he questions the connection between sustainable designs and cyclones. He ponders on the thought that the nature is unleashing revengeful punishments against humans in multiple forms and locations, across the world, for disturbing it in a very cruel way. Cyclone is not an event of today but an accumulated implication of our last few centuries of agriculture and urbanisation, hence climate change in the form of cyclones are but a warning signals for the future, for which we have become very insensitive or rather turned blind and deaf. So, instead of eliminating the risks and stopping the change, he urges to all the stakeholders of the construction industry – promoters, owners, builders, material manufacturers, designers, managers, marketers to offer such sustainable solutions that may minimise damage from possible future cyclones or for that matter natural calamities (rather man made calamities as he puts it across to the audience). He concludes by addressing the audience that the mantra of today is to be resilient to risks and adopt to climate change by minimising the damage in the form of materialistic living and opting for minimal usage of materials.
