Through this video, I would like to spread awareness about use of clay for idol making unlike Plaster of Paris(PoP) which is environment friendly and dissolves in the water without leaving any harmful residue behind.

The artist in the video, Shantanu Shukla, has been making ganapati idols from clay since age of 17 as a hobby and is blessed by God with this beautiful talent. He is a tabla player by profession which makes him busy throughout the year but every year, much ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi he starts making idols. Unlike some of the artists, Shantanu Shukla does not sell these idols for money and his art represents the selfless dedication and pure devotion to God.

In this video you can see another little boy named Amog Haldipur, resident of Mangaluru, keenly learning the art in order to keep this art alive.

This video is an effort to spread awareness about the tremendous talent our country has which goes unrecognised and how much effort it takes to build these beautiful idols.
