What is Google LaMDA And Why Is It Important?

Google released some major things at google io 2021. Google has been working to improve on its language processing models for quite some time now and it has officially released LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), which is a natural language processing model that specializes in dialogue. This is huge news simply because language has been so hard to model in machine learning. Lots of existing chat bots, virtual assistants and dialogue applications are programmed with pre-determined questions and answers so it is pretty easy to discern that you are not communicating with a human. With LaMDA, this line is definitely blurred, it has managed to pick up the nuances that exist in human communication; flow, wit, specificity, etc.

LaMDA is a huge stepping stone for what is to come; a possible digital revolution of AI-powered chatbots and personal assistants that are more human-like than ever before. There are huge development capabilities as Google also plans on making LaMDA available open source.
