Couture for the TikTok Generation at Jean Paul Gaultier by Glenn Martens

We break down the Belgian designer's first go at couture, designing for Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 22 haute couture. Guest chair Benji Park hosts a discussion, joined by TJ Sidhu, Osama Al Chabbi, Tuba Avalon and Rian Phin. Conversation centres on how Martens drew on Jean Paul Gaultier's archives together with silhouettes from his work at Y/Project, seen through the lens of couture. Creating a hybrid collection which speaks to both the Gen-Z and TikTok generation together with the couture clientele, the panellists discuss how the closed world of fashion could open its doors by inviting lesser known designers into guest positions such as these.
