Papi the bobcat kitten was originally found alone on a bike trail at just a few weeks old. He followed a couple down the trail crying. They took the kitten home and fed it cows milk and canned cat food, but soon realized they could not and should not try to raise a wild animal. They had the kitten for at least 2 weeks, possibly 3 weeks. He came to Big Cat Rescue at around 3 months old to join our rehabilitation program, in the hopes that because he was still young, he could be rehabilitated and released back to the wild! Big Cat Rescue wants to transform zoo prisons into wildlife portals using VR and AR. They launched the world's first AR Zoo in March 2019 and a second location in August 2019. More at ARzoo.me

To see our cats in higher resolution we use the free EZ-360 app, available in the Oculus store, and our code to enter is MQ7 BN4. That will load about a dozen of our best videos and if you download them to the headset before playing, you avoid low res and buffering issues.

We are looking for ways to empower developers to create more of this kind of immersive experience and more ways to bring those experiences to people around the world because we believe VR is a much more effective educational tool than seeing wildcats languishing in cages. If we stimulate demand for these experiences we can push the tech forward so that eventually the natural habitats where big cats live will become the theaters, laced with Internet connected, motion sensor cameras that transmit what exotic cats are doing in the wild, when they think no one is watching. If all of our wildlife experiences came only on their terms, we'd have to protect their habitat or lose all of what makes our planet so amazing.
