Welcome to the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite review!
This phone has two names, depending on the region. Mi A2 lite as a global version, and Redmi 6 pro in China and India. And I would like to tell you about its top 5 strengths while reviewing it.
We are going to explore the global edition. The main difference is the ROM – global version runs on the awesome pure stock Android as part of the Android one program, and the Redmi 6 Pro is based on xiaomi’s well known Mi Ui, which is more colorful, brings some more features, but also seems to be a bit heavier.
The first top feature of the phone is the hardware: packing the midrange Snapdragon 625, 3 or 4 GB RAM and 32 or 64gb ROM. With dedicated microsd slot for up to additional 256GB. If we run various benchmarks – performance won’t seem to be remarkable. It is as fast as the mi a1, which means – very good performance, and you will have enough power to run most of the popular games.
The display is LCD, with moderate toningWwith the 19:9 ratio and 1080p resolution you see enough details to be satisfied.
We continue with the second top feature and this is the camera. The primary sensor is a Sony IMX486 Exmor RS of 12 megapixels and aperture f/2.2 which Xiaomi are using for many of their smartphones. The level of detail is good, colors are mostly accurate, and the HDR mode adds additional improvement to the image. And there is a way to create bokeh-effect. You can also shoot video with 1080 resolution. With gyro-based EIS – electronic image stabilization.
Last hardware component and third main strength of the phone is the battery: 4000 mah! In such a thin body and overall – elegant and lightweight smartphone. No wireless charging though. And the communication cable standard is micro USB at times when a lot of devices already get a Type-C port.
If you are wondering how long does the battery last – this as usual varies a lot, based on the screen brightness setting, on the mobile data standard, the amount of SIM cards that you use and the type of activities that you do. Most certainly it will be hard to squeeze all the juice within a day.
Fourth super feature is the software. Being part of the Android One program means that – you have lightweight vanilla ROM and a subscription for getting the latest updates (including security updates) much quicker than phones that are not part of this program. If you’ve ever used stock Android – then you likely are well aware of its many advantages.
The fifth main advantage of the Mi A2 Lite is of course the price! Xiaomi are well known for being aggressive there, and looks like their expansion on markets different to Asia is quite successful. We’ve seen huge growth in Europe in the last months, and the brand already has contracts with many network providers to sell their phones.
I am used to point to disadvantages by the end of each review. To the Xiaomi A2 Lite right now I haven’t discovered anything significant. So you can help me with the comments below ;)
