Gold & silver refining using the cupelling process for removing base metals (copper, lead, iron, antimony, zinc, etc) from our smelted gold buttons. This process works on silver as well as platinum, palladium, and other precious metals, too. This is an ancient process that has been used since the bronze age for removing base metals from precious metals. It is inexpensive, low tech, low skill and works very well for getting refined gold and sliver with very little contamination. Using only lead, portland cement, and a torch the base metals are heated, oxidized, and removed from the precious metals by the cupel. It is a great way to take your smelted gold, silver, precious metal buttons and increase the purity of the precious metals with very little work or effort.
