Building A Satellite Isn’t Rocket Science | Tanuj Kumar | TEDxBITSPilani
In this TEDx talk delivered at BITS Pilani in January 2019, Tanuj Kumar explains why it is worth investing in space exploration. He gives us an insight into how it is passion and hard work and not heaps of cash that goes into satellite building. He tells us how 'Anant,' a team of people at BITS Pilani, is in the process of building their first nano-satellite with a hyperspectral camera as its payload.
Tanuj Kumar is a space enthusiast and a mentor to the nanosatellite team of BITS Pilani. He has been actively pursuing research in hacking hardware for information and differential power analysis. He has given a talk at the European Space Agency and worked in satellite dynamics at ISRO; he now puts his knowledge to use by improving the current satellite technologies.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Tanuj, an undergrad at BITS Pilani is best defined by a combination of electronics, space sciences, programming and music. He is a mentor to, and the team lead of the Publicity & Business development subsystem of Team Anant, the undergraduate satellite team of BITS Pilani and is also a drummer at Gurukul, the department of music at BITS.
A space enthusiast since the beginning, Tanuj is already experienced in this field, having given a talk at the European Space Agency, and having worked on satellite dynamics at ISRO.
He hopes to put his experience to use in the future by building smaller satellites with more complex payloads, that can eventually replace all bigger satellites. He intends to pursue research in the field of space electronics upon graduation, and put that to use in improving current satellite technologies.
