The best part of having a science channel is having the ability to BLOW STUFF UP!!!! This series is entirely dedicated to the fun of BLOWING THINGS UP!!! If you’re having a rough day, or are just interested in seeing what happens when normal household items get stuffed with gun powder, this is the series for you! With the help of professional stunt men we go out to the desert and blow a new item up each week. It’s literally STUFF VS. GUNPOWDER… sometimes the stuff wins, other times not : ) Which always makes us ask the question “WILL IT BLOW”? There is tons of learning to be had with the structural integrity of each item and how it reacts to an explosive charge. In this episode we take on the one thing we all love so much…LAMP!!! One thing that made this video so different is that we used the bomb pot to blow up the lamp. This is a little metal tube we bury in the ground and then put the gunpowder charge down into. We then placed the lamp over this tube. What we didn’t expect is that all of the pressure would go straight into the lamp body! It sure did, and it took the lamp with it! Pieces of the lamp went over our safety shields and hit James square in the forehead. It wasn’t a big cut, but it’s a reminder that safety comes first and when blowing stuff up, make sure to work with trained professionals!
