How to Eliminate ALL ODORS with an Ozone Machine

There is a lot of confusion in the air purifier market between air ionizers, air purifiers and ozone generators. They all have their respective place, but it is best to know what they are intended for. Ionizers are generally the same as a typical air purifier in that they have several layers of filtration to clean your indoor air. They differ in the fact that they attach negatively charged ions onto positively charged dust and allergen particles. By attaching to the dust, the negatively charged ions cause the particles to drop out of the air in front of your ionizer unit. Your car’s HVAC system is similar to a regular air purifier as it has a filtered element at the beginning of the HVAC unit (outside & recirculate) to clean the air as best as it can, but it doesn’t kill any bacteria or bad odors.

Ozone generators on the other hand, are not air filters. There are basically two methods of producing ozone; through ultra-violet or corona discharge. Corona discharge creates ozone by applying high voltage to a metallic grid sandwiched between two dielectrics. The high voltage jumps through the dielectric to a grounded screen and in the process, creates ozone from oxygen present in the chamber. Ultra-violet (UV) light creates ozone when a wavelength at 254 nm (nanometers) hits an oxygen atom. The molecule (O2) splits into two atoms (O), which combine with another oxygen molecule (O2) to form ozone (O3).

If you were to smoke in your car, or spill something, it will leave a scent behind. No matter how much you spot clean or shampoo your interior, there will always be traces of it left behind. The typical, yet improper way to make the interior more pleasant is to buy air fresheners to MASK the scents. Air fresheners add an initial strong fragrance to the air, which is more powerful and pungent than the original smell, but they eventually will wear off and the smoke smell will be back in no time. Putting an air freshener in your car is a short time band-aid to a problem. There is only one PROPER way to remedy the problem, and that is by using an Ozone generator.
