Restoration Rusty Caucasian Dagger

Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration video, of a Caucasian type dagger. As usual, the item was found at a flea market. This interesting knife had no sheath, but there is a brand on the blade. Well, let's proceed to the restoration.

As usual, I used rust remover liquid and then washed, dried and oiled. After I used soft iron brush to removed rest dirty and patina and then started to sanded it. I used sand papers from 120—480 grit. I don't remove deep scratches and the effects of metal corrosion. So as not to turn it into a shiny piece of iron. With the help of 10% nitric acid, I etched the blade and moved on to the handle. I had no experience working with such a subject, this was the first time I did it. For the handle of the dagger, I chose strong wood and brass rivets. The shape of rivets was chiseled with a drill and a file.

Then the sanding of the handle and the beginning of work with the scabbard. I picked a lime tree, but there was not enough material and made the second part out of pine. The scabbard after processing, pasted over with genuine leather, made brass fittings and a dagger suspension.
As usual, I made a test. I hope, you will enjoy this restoration video. Happy New year! Best wishes. Thank you for attention!
