Doki Doki Literature Club - A Metamodern Horror Game

In this installment, I'll be presenting my thoughts on Doki Doki Literature Club, DDLC for short. The game was designed by Team Salvato, led by creator Dan Salvato. DDLC is a computer game that presents itself as a “visual novel,” a genre typically known for its romantic, sometimes melodramatic storylines, as well as its anime-style of artwork.

Now, before I get into it, I want to take this opportunity to say that this game depicts some extremely disturbing situations. This includes certain reoccurring themes of depression, self-harm, neglect and even suicide. So, in consideration of these disturbing elements, if you feel at all like this might not be the game for you, that is totally fine. Sit this one out, and stay tuned for my next video, which I think won't be quite as heavy with respect to the subject matter.

I also want to note that I am going to be discussing major plot points in the game. And if you don't want it spoiled for you, go ahead and close out of this video right now. You can come back after you've played the game. It’s is available for free on Team Salvato's website or on Steam.
