Arthur J. Williams Jr. explained that he moved to Texas at 20 to get away from his life in Chicago after he was shot. However, he was eventually arrested for second-degree burglary. During his prison term, Williams had time for self-reflection and education, particularly about religion and philosophy. Upon his release, he noticed how new $100 bills were hastily checked and decided to start counterfeiting again. He enjoyed being able to work on his own, with his operation involving making the plates, mixing the ink, and creating the paper. Remarkably, he managed to counterfeit the new $100 bills so convincingly with reasonably accessible items that they even passed through banks and casinos.
