Ramaphosa clamps down on gatherings, beaches and alcohol sales as he tightens curfew

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on December 14 2020 on “developments in relation to the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic”. During his address Ramaphosa announced that Sarah Baartman District and the Garden Route District are now hotspots and that more restrictions will be put into place for the rest of 2020.

Timescodes:
00:11-00:49- Sarah Baartman District and the Garden Route District are now hotspots.
00:49-01:15- More restrictions implemented everywhere.
01:15-01:41- Gathering numbers amended.
01:41-01:49- No “after tears” parties allowed.
01:29-02:47- Some beaches and parks will be closed.
02:27-03:02- Some beaches and parks will be opened between 9am-6pm.
03:02-03:22- No live festivals/gatherings at beaches and parks.
03:22-03:43- Curfew times amended.
03:43- 03:51- Restaurant times amended.
03:51- 04:07- Alcohol sale times and days amended.
04:07-04:23- A fine and six months' imprisonment if rules are broken.
