The Center of the Russian Culture honors the one of the greatest singer and actor of the past, the legendary Russian bass Feodor Shalyapin with a musical tribute on the 145th Anniversary of his birth and 80th Anniversary of his death.

Shalyapin was the most famous Russian opera singer of the 20th Century. Owing to his powerful and flexible bass voice, employed in conjunction with a mesmerizing stage presence and superb acting ability, he is considered one of the supreme performers in the history of opera. He is often credited with establishing the tradition of naturalistic acting in his chosen art form.

The concert features the masterpieces relative to Shalyapin's worldwide opera career performed by remarkable Metropolitan Opera singers Mikhail Svetlov (bass), Olga Makarina (soprano), Adam Klein (tenor), the virtuoso instrumental ensemble Russian Carnival and other guest performers.

Opera and chamber music by Musorgskiy, Rakhmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Gounod, Mozart, Verdi.
