How can we treat vitiligo(white patches)through Ayurveda? - Dr. Mini Nair

Skin is one of our essential sense organ and melanin is essentially one of the pigments that gives colour to the skin. When there is gradual loss of this melanin pigment it results in the formation of we white patches, that we call as vitiligo or leucoderma. As per Ayurveda this is called as shvitra or shwetakushta. Wherever as Ayurveda says, vata and prachaka pita has set on the skin then there is an imbalance into the doshas of the vata or pitta, then there is a gradual decrease in the colour and it causes various pigmentation problem and one of this is shweta kushat or viitiligo, what is commonly known as leucoderma also. This is seen at any age, any person and it is once seen theta it is nerve contagious but there are various factors that lead to this or triggers these problems. First is the imbalances in our system or it can be cerai autimune conditions or it can be a reaction to various drugs the person is taking too. To identify this we needed a thorough examination. Once the variety of this is identified, because there are quite lot of autoimmune conditions, we need to control the conditions form further spreading and then try managing it or cure it. So when we first try to control it or cure it is try to detoxify our system. So detoxifications is the primary Ayurvedic or panchamkarma treatment is incorporated, as certain oral medications or diet changes, when we talk about diet changes what w e need to d is we need to prevent further accumulation toxins in our system for which diet plays a very important role. S o avoid processed, canned, food stuffs form our day intake and then make sure to take lot of fruis, vegetables, nuts and also to drink a lot of water and prevent acidity in our system and intake of butter food stuffs like drumsticks or neem and even certain other bitter gourd can be taken more to prevent the imbalance, followed by which there are other medications like the bauchi or the psoralea is a wonder drug in treatment of viitligo, here this bauchi can be in the form of lepams. Lepams means paste which can be applied on the affected area and it can be exposed to early morning sunlight . The same drug can be in the form of choornams, lepams , tailams and all the other , even including pills. The medicine s has to be decide and has to be flowed for a period of maybe 6 months to a year to get a complete clearance of this conditions.
