Plantronics Pro battery replacement

Replacing the battery on my old Bluetooth earpiece. It had gone through the washer but it still worked. However, the battery didn't hold a charge for long. I think it was caused by the corrosion found while doing this much like a car battery will go dead when it's covered in grime. The dirt and corrosion create a low level short or load.
