Thanks to the AASA at Brown University for having me along to talk about this.
**Please note that when I say I don't make fun of my mother's accent I'm not saying I don't acknowledge her accent or imitate it- I'm saying that her accent is never the butt of my joke. I make fun of what she's saying, not that she has an accent. There's a difference.
